JCDecaux Innovate Australia has partnered with Huawei to promote the launch of their new Ascend G6 smartphone, by inviting passers-by to strike a pose in an original 'Get snap-happy' campaign.
Huawei, the inventor of the group Selfie made famous by Ellen DeGeneres at the Oscars 2014 ceremony, ran a campaign from 24 June to 7 July allowing pedestrians in Sydney and Melbourne to interact with a touch screen and to strike a pose in front of a built-in camera.Featuring a unique custom-built Innovate panel fitted with a 46” portrait touch screen, the campaign gave passers-by the opportunity to take a selfie and see their image transformed into what the cool kids call an epic ‘selfie bomb’, set against a backdrop of the new Transformers film.
By entering their details via the interactive panel, participants could choose to be sent a copy of their ‘selfie bomb’ photo and enjoy 15-seconds of fame by having their image displayed on the JCDecaux panel.
Participants also got the chance to win a VIP ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ trip for 2 to Beijing and Shanghai. The selfie photos were published on the Huawei official Facebook page where users could vote for their favourite photo. The lucky selfie person won the free VIP trip to China.
