JCDecaux, the world n°1 for airport advertising which holds contracts for 140 airports throughout the world including London, Paris and New York, has just won the concession for Stockholm airport.
With a turnover in 1999 of 1.5 billion francs (€ 228 673) of which 77% was made internationally, the Transport Advertising arm represents 18% of the consolidated turnover of the JCDecaux Communication Extérieure Group. As a major European capital, Stockholm is an important air platform in Scandinavia and sees annual traffic in the order of 17 million passengers, placing it in 7th position in Europe. The advertising faces concession, until now managed internally, was put out to tender at the beginning of the year after considerable discussion by the Swedish airport authorities as to whether this should be externalised. The expertise of the JCDecaux Communication Extérieure Group, which manages the largest international network of airport concessions, together with the quality and design of the products proposed meant that the Group won this contract ahead of Clear Channel and the Scandinavian company Green Media. This concession will start on 1 January 2001 and involves a business volume of over 400 million krona which is equivalent to over 320 million francs.
