JCDecaux SA (JCDecaux, Euronext Paris: DEC) announced today that the Los Angeles City Council has selected Infinity Decaux, LLC, - a joint venture of Infinity Outdoor Advertising, a subsidiary of Viacom Inc., and JCDecaux USA, Inc., the US subsidiary of JCDecaux SA - for its \"Coordinated Street Furniture Program\". Infinity Decaux's proposal was rated superior to its competitor's on each of the City's criteria, from quality to design, track record and compensation. Infinity Decaux's proposal for the 20-year street furniture contract with the City of Los Angeles will provide 2,500 bus shelters, 150 fully automated public toilets and an array of other street furniture. It is one of the largest contracts of its kind ever awarded in the US and worldwide. Los Angeles is the second largest city in the US with a population of 3.7 million and the largest outdoor advertising market in the country.

  • Jean-Francois Decaux, Chairman and Co-CEO of JCDecaux, said: \"The creation of Infinity Decaux represents the first time that JCDecaux and Viacom have linked-up. The 50:50 partnership was formed to bid for the Los Angeles City street furniture contract and combines Infinity's leading position in the outdoor advertising market in the US with JCDecaux's considerable experience in street furniture advertising and design.
  • \"We are excited by the opportunity of working with Viacom, which currently holds the LA bus shelter contract. We have had tremendous success in implementing street furniture programmes in the world's most attractive cities over the last 35 years, and we look forward to providing Los Angeles with the same level of quality and achievement.
  • "This contract, which will be negotiated in the next few weeks, would strengthen our rapidly developing position in the US market where we already operate in San Francisco, 35% of the country's leading shopping malls and 53 airports. We see good potential for the growth in street furniture advertising in the US, where we now await the decision for the street furniture contract for the city of Chicago."

Infinity Outdoor President Wally Kelly, said: "As the largest outdoor company in the U.S., we have an unmatched service record, and together with JCDecaux, we offer state-of-the-art technical expertise, innovation and design". The firm operates approximately 117,000 bulletin, poster, mall and transit advertising display faces, as well as a full-service sports marketing service in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
