JCDecaux successfully challenged pedestrians and passengers to don their sporty gear for summer and get their hearts pumping in several collaborations round the world.
Vélib, France
Champs- Elysées , one of the most famous avenues in the world, was transformed into the world’s busiest bicycle track in mid-June this year. JCDecaux and the City of Paris invited Parisians to raise funds for three NGOs (
GoodPlanet,
Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque and the
Fondation du Patrimoine) by cycling a 700 metres long circuit.
Over 3,000 cyclists, Parisians and tourists alike, rode a total of almost 29,000km, breaking last year’s record by 11,000km. Most importantly, the event raised €20,000 for the NGOs.
Nivea, UK
Women in London were challenged by Nivea to participate in a unique open-air dip in Covent Garden. This was to celebrate the first reveal of their swimsuit this year.
Free tickets were given out and these ran out in less than 24 hours. Pedestrians were treated to the sight of women who dared to dip, while being entertained by professional ‘aquabatics’ shows throughout the day.
P&G, Hong Kong
JCDecaux and P&G transformed Hong Kong’s MTR Causeway Bay Station into a velodrome with an attention-grabbing backdrop of professional cyclists racing and a capacity crowd cheering. Enthusiastic MTR passengers were able to show support for their athletes by getting onto two specially built bicycles and logging the distance cycled.
