Unveiled in April 2018, the Terminal 2 of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (GBIA) is expected to handle 45 million passengers a year. JCDecaux teams from all over the world rallied together for over 9 months to design and install 500 advertising spaces.
With more than 180 JCDecaux digital screens, the Guangzhou Baiyun Airport T2 is now the most digitized JCDecaux terminal in terms of number of media in China. This new terminal helps Guangzhou Baiyun Airport consolidate its position as the 3rd busiest airport in China and 13th worldwide with more than 70 million passengers annually.
In June 2017, JCDecaux won the contract to design, build and operate the advertising concession at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 2. The implementation of 500 advertising spaces at the country's largest terminal (in term of sq.m with Ground Transportation Centre) was an unprecedented project, which required close collaboration between the China, Asia and Corporate teams to deliver technological innovations and meet tight deadlines.
During 9 months, 150 JCDecaux members from General Research, IT to Operations departments worked as a team to achieve one common goal: harmoniously integrating 500 advertising spaces to the airport environment. Led by JCDecaux China's Project team, JCDecaux teams completed the mission despite multiple challenges, such as technical complexities, structural calculations and design changes.
The hard work paid off! The Terminal 2 of the airport, with its 1500 sq.m of digital installations showcases JCDecaux's expertise in China and around the world.
