  London’s Heathrow airport has just announced a total traffic of 6.1 million passengers for the month of May, which represents a +4.7% year-on-year increase. The growth in passengers has been registered across all markets, with Transatlantic up +3.6% and European short haul up +6.9% (including double-digit growth in Italy (+13.5%), France (+12.2%) and the Netherlands (+15.6%)). But the most noticeable increase was registered in passengers going to and from the BRIC economies. The airport registered a +11.7% increase across all BRIC destinations, with strong growth in India (+17.7%) and China (+13.7%). This strong increase is a very positive trend for Heathrow Airport, with the opening of Terminal 2 just one year away.
