Outdoor campaigns have won several interesting awards in the last year.
Google won a Lion at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival in 2011 for its outdoor campaign done with JCDecaux. Thirteen different creatives were displayed on national billboards to promote Google Voice Search mobile app.
In France last year, consumers were asked to designate the most innovative advertising campaign. The ones with the highest score were on the oudoor medium, the highest being a campaign from JCDecaux and KRBO France for the endives Perles du Nord (second in the rankings for most innovative and most special). A bus shelter was transformed into a fridge where consumers could get chicory.
Finally in Asia, McDonald's won gold at the Kam Fan Awards. Launched in the Hong Kong subway in July 2011, the campaign achieved engagement and popularity with both locals and tourists as it was located just nearby the exit to iSQUARE in Tsim Sha Ts. A panel with 18 buttons is set to invite passers-by to participate with friends. Once all the 18 buttons are pressed at the same time, the players will get a coupon for enjoying the new McNugget set.
