JCDecaux Communicazione Esterna, the Italian subsidiary of the JCDecaux Out of Home Media Group, has recently won the advertising concession for Rome's underground system.
- JCDecaux Communicazione Esterna has been in partnership with Publimetro, the underground's management company, since 1983 and was selected ahead of Jolly Pubblicità (Clear Channel Group), TDI (CBS-Viacom Group) and IGP, the Italian leader in street furniture and transport. The contract has been renewed for 5 years.
- The Group's experience in transport advertising, together with the new technology that it has developed (scrolling systems, backlite panels, advertising displays on underground trains), have impressed the operators of the Rome underground system, the leading underground network in Italy alongside Milan (900,000 passengers per day).
This advertising concession allows for the management of 7,000 advertising displays in stations and underground trains and is expected to generate a turnover of around 360 million francs (55 million Euro) during the contractual term.
This deal represents a major success for the Group at a time when JCDecaux Communicazione Esterna is consolidating its presence in the Italian market.
